Write a 4-5-page paper that compares and contrasts a specific aspect of two authors’ views on a problem or issue

I attached the two article links in one of the files above and the other file is a sample essay that is supposed to be similar to what this essay should look like except these two articles and not the two articles in the sample essay. And assignment 3 and 4 are the assignments that I did leading up to this final essay that are kind of like sub essays with the same articles to help you get a better understanding of them. I got an 85% on both of those assignments.
This is what the essay should consist of ” In Essay 2, you will build on these skills by writing a comparative analysis essay, one of the most common assignments you will come across in your academic careers. A comparative analysis essay can take many forms. For example, one might compare two author’s arguments about an issue, a film adaption to the novel it is based on, a scientific theory to a new body of evidence, or two historical events. In all of these instances, the idea is that by exploring two things in light of one another, we are able to realize something we wouldn’t have been able to see by looking at them on their own. In other words, the point of a comparative analysis is not the comparison itself, but why it matters – what it helps us understand.” as well as ”

A successful paper will accomplish each of the objectives listed below. Please note that this list of goals is not a paragraph-by-paragraph outline. The sample essay, for example, includes multiple steps in a single paragraph, and spreads others over multiple paragraphs. To develop an outline, you should instead work with your professor on ways to develop your own argument and break it down into logically ordered steps.

Introduce and explain the problem, question, or issue that is subject to debate (open to multiple answers/interpretations), which the readings your essay examines address.

Summarize and evaluate each author’s argument about the problem or issue you have identified, assessing the authors’ use of evidence, identifying their unspoken assumptions, and/or considering the consequences of their ideas.

Clearly explain the key difference between the two arguments. Please note that this difference could be an outright disagreement (if the authors come to opposite conclusions), but it could also refer to a difference in emphasis or approach; for example, the arguments you discuss may start from different assumptions about the question/problem under consideration, or bring different methods to bear on it.

Articulate a thesis about what this comparison shows us about the question or problem under consideration. You could argue (a) that one of the sources offers a more useful approach and support your argument in the body of your paper, but this is not the only option. You could also (b) find something useful about each argument and combine these elements into a coherent argument about your topic that synthesizes their ideas, or (c) identify an important aspect of the question that neither source fully addresses or explains (a “hole” left open by both arguments) but that you claim should be a focus of future research.

Integrate and analyze evidence from the two readings in order to develop your argument through a logical progression of points.

Tips for writing a comparative analysis:

In a comparative analysis, the argument must go beyond the initial compare and contrast step, in which one claims that the two texts are similar, different, or similar in some ways and different in others. Such observations could apply to any pairing of texts, and they don’t teach us anything new. When you approach this essay, start from the assumption that the compare and contrast step only first step of the writing process. You will definitely need to compare and contrast your chosen texts to discover their common elements and points of difference, but an essay that simply reports on these similarities and differences would fall short.

Because this essay is only 4-5 pages long, you will not be able to discuss all the similarities and differences you identify between the two texts. Instead, you will need to narrow your focus to a particular aspect of the authors’ arguments that you think matters. Doing so will help you establish a manageable scope for your thesis, and it will help you explain the reasoning behind your choice of texts to your readers.

As you begin to develop ideas, use your close reading skills to identify and analyze relevant evidence from each text. How do the texts complement or challenge one another? In what specific ways? What particular passages would you point to and why? Is there something surprising about your findings? Does your investigation of one text and how it works reveal something new about the other?

Try to not to lose sight of the big picture and your audience’s needs when you write your draft. Remember to provide relevant background information (context) throughout the essay to make sure your readers understand the topic at hand or the specific evidence you discuss. Similarly, be sure to state your thesis confidently and precisely in the introduction: How, exactly, do you claim this comparison illuminates the texts themselves and our thinking about the issue at hand? To put it another way: Why do your findings matter? Why should someone read this essay?
