Length: paper is to be 5-6 single spaced pages with 1″ margins and font no larger than 12 point.

A good research paper should be designed to answer a question. An ideal paper would address the “Why” a policy came about focusing on the political and organizational factors that shaped ti, or the impact of a policy focusing on costs, benefits, and risk. For example:

Why were wolves re-introduced into Yellowstone Park?
How effective has been the Supefund cleanup of toxic sites?
Why has international agreements on Climate Change been so hard to negotiate?
Why did the U.S. pull out of the Paris Accord on Climate Change?
What is the relationship between Climate Change and the refugee crisis?
Does environmental change cause wars?
How have U.S. trade policies (NAFTA, WTO) affected the environment?
What is the case for public lands?

These are merely examples of how you could frame your research paper. Find a topic that interests you and ask a question about it. Your paper should be directed toward providing that answer

The first paragraph of your paper should establish the question and provide a thesis statement about how you will answer it.

The body of the paper provides evidence or argument in support of your thesis.l

The last paragraph should conclude with a summary of the answer and communicate what you learned.

In addition the research paper must:

Include a descriptive title
Include a bibliography of sources – at least six recommended.
Include attribution of your material to its sources via footnotes or internal notation.

The style manual you use is up to you though you need to be consistent.
