Self Reflection

Option 1: Self-Reflective Paper
Write a self-reflective paper that explains your understanding of mass media consumption and the effects of media messages on society. Also incorporate how and why your interaction with media messages has, or has not, been affected by the class.
A Few Musts. You must incorporate what you learned from the media estimate and exposure (tracking) exercises, as well as your VALS Typology results. You also must incorporate relevant supporting course material from the required readings (text and supplemental) and viewings into your response. Material from course lectures should be researched using credible websites (e.g., the American Academy of Pediatrics for children as a special audience) and scholarly journal articles available through the Belk Library and/or Google Scholar.
All concepts/knowledge/material that are quoted and/or paraphrased must be cited. No exceptions.
Please note that I am looking for well-written, thoughtful, academic reflection about what you’ve learned in the class. If what you present is superficial in content, attention to APA style detail, and/or grammar, I will stop reading and you will receive an automatic zero for the assignment. That outcome will be the same if you do not support your reflections with in-text citations and a reference list.
Other Considerations. Your essay should be substantive enough to demonstrate knowledge of course material and thoughtful reflection about that material. You should aim for six to seven typed, double-spaced pages with one-inch margins. The six-page minimum does not include your reference list. You may use Times, Times New Roman or Calibri (body) type at 12 points.
A six-page minimum does not mean that you can turn in five pages and expect a passing grade. I am looking for a thorough reflection that is supported by credible sources that demonstrate your research, familiarity with the assigned readings, and your critical thinking ability. Aim for a minimum of 8-10 credible, scholarly sources to support your work.
Write content that is clear and concise. Use transitions to move from one topic to another. Feel free to use subheadings if they help you organize your thoughts.
You must use APA style to write your paper, cite your sources in the text, and create a reference list. Any paper submitted in a style other than correct APA will receive an automatic zero.
