Write a profile essay in Modern Language Association Format (MLA) about a place. Your essay should be informative and entertaining. You should show the place in a new way. In other words, present the place differently from the way it is traditionally viewed. Address how the place is similar to other places like it. Also, address how the place is unique. Though the subject of your profile should focus on a specific place, you should also include people and activities in your essay. Obtain information for your essay only through observations and interviews. Interviews may be conducted by phone or email. Include personal reactions such as your feelings, expectations, and insights throughout the essay. Please keep safety in mind for this assignment.
Essay Structure:
Begin with a clearly written introductory paragraph. A thesis statement should be evident by the way you convey your perspective, either explicitly or implicitly through the description and information.
Body paragraphs will develop the main ideas stated in the introduction. The paragraphs will be appropriately detailed and demonstrate strong unity, coherence, and development. Each paragraph will support the thesis statement.
The conclusion will remind readers what they have learned from reading the essay.
Following the conclusion will be a properly formatted Works Cited page, containing the interview(s).
Your essay should incorporate descriptive and narrative techniques of this genre of writing. The structure of your essay should be narrative rather than topical. You should decide which role to adopt as a writer, either spectator or participant-observer.
