Current events: democracy

Question

Find a current event article online (meaning an article that is no more than 6 months old) regarding the content of the unit we have been covering. I will give ideas, in the discussion post area, of what types of stories you might look for but this need not limit you. As long as the story can be linked to a topic discussed in lecture, you can use it. You must copy and paste the link for the story at the bottom of your post to get credit.2. Summarize the article in a few sentences (2-3). While you can use quotes, you must still summarize the article yourself. Copying and pasting the article or portions of it will not receive credit. 3. Discuss how the article relates to the content we are covering in class. You must link the story to lecture AND CITE THE SPECIFIC LECTURE SLIDE (i.e. Foundations-PP #3) in order to receive credit. You will then describe why/how it is linked to a concept from the specific slide. For instance, “I chose this story because it is an example of the one of the basic tenets of democracy specifically it is an example of the traditional definition of
equality).
For this week, the current event topic is Democracy. Possible topics: democratic process, basic tenets of democracy, Constitution, historical foundations. I have attached PowerPoints from the Lecture to reference.
