Extra Credit
During class, we will be watching three episodes of Art21 from PBS. These can be found here in season 10 of the Art21 series. While we watch these videos I recommend taking extensive notes. The extra credit assignment will consist of writing a one-page response per episode for a total of three pages. Each response should be double spaced and should cover the four artists interviewed in each episode. You should also write about their work, a little history behind each artist, how each artist’s work relates to each other, are there any other artists that their work reminds you of, and how their artwork is making an impact on the Contemporary Art world and society. Since there are four artists in each episode, I recommend that you dedicate one paragraph to each artist. Each one-page essay is worth up to 75% of a missed discussion topic. This means that you can get 30 points or less per essay depending on the quality and content of your writing. Each essay must only be one page long, so keep your responses concise and to the point. Points will be deducted for not meeting the page requirement, exceeding the page limit, misspellings, typos, and poor grammar. Points awarded for the extra credit will be added to missing or low grades in the grade book. Headings and titles are not required for these assignments as they will take up valuable writing space.
