Proposal: An essay proposal explains what you intend to argue in your paper. Your argument will likely change as you do further research, but your proposal should show that you have done some preliminary reading and have a sense of the direction that you intend to pursue. The proposal should be approximately 100 words.
At least five sources should be cited; more than 15 is too many. Most of the sources should be scholarly books and journal articles.
Your annotated bibliography is a bibliography (in Chicago/Turabian style) where each entry is followed by a brief (50-100 word) annotation. The annotation should provide a concise summary of the source. What information does this source provide? What argument does it make? It should also evaluate the source, assessing the quality and relevance of the source for the paper.
