Electronic Exchange of Information
Directions
The electronic exchange of health information impacts the continuity of patient care and can help to improve health outcomes. Adhering to the guidelines for how to ensure that information systems are interoperable helps to facilitate this exchange. Without adhering to these standards the information systems may not be able to share and use the data that is exchanged.
Using the table provided, compare and contrast at least two benefits and two barriers of implementing interoperability status when exchanging electronic health information.
Then in approximately 550 words (template provided below rubric),
· Explain how electronic exchange of information can lead to improved health outcomes for patients.
· Analyze one of the barriers included in your chart, that a provider may experience as they attempt to achieve interoperability status. Then, identify and explain resources/services that are available to the provider to overcome the barrier. Refer to your lecture reading
