Developmental Trauma

Provide a rationale for a new study on the topic of developmental trauma (from an attachment perspective), focusing specifically on how traumatization shapes adult identities, and leads them to having problematic attachment styles. The paper should resemble a thesis proposal. The paper must be based on your own independent research.

The paper will contain the following sections:
• Title Page
• Abstract (separate page; you may place keywords just below the abstract, if you wish)
• Introduction (start beginning of next page after the abstract)
– Start the introduction section with a summary of core topics and major theoretical ideas that you will present in detail later in the introduction, general motivation for the proposed study including how it will move the field forward by providing novel information, a general description of questions that will be answered by your proposed study, and an outline of major arguments in support of your primary hypotheses, in 1-3 paragraphs. Present one major topic area at a time, with one core idea per paragraph,
organized like a story to guide the reader through your study proposal. In each subsequent paragraph, add information that is needed to move your primary story forward; leave out extraneous information and unnecessary secondary story lines. Add headings, as needed, to delineate major shifts in topic and provide a visual
cue for readers who want to revisit or quickly find each topic section.
• Hypotheses (list your hypotheses just before the Method section, numbering each hypothesis)
• Method, with subheadings such as: participants, design, materials, and procedure
• Analysis (in lieu of a results section)
• Limitations (in lieu of a discussion section)
• References (no limits; about 20 is typical)

You may include figures, tables, and an appendix, if you wish, as optional content. For example, you might provide a figure outlining the theory behind your study, or an appendix with copies of psychological tests, or a table with hypothetical results. Please follow APA style for references, headings, and structural paper elements. The paper should be 10-15 pages long, NOT including title page and references.

Key features of a strong paper:
• organizational structure that guides the reader, tells a coherent story, ordering of major headings and topics is logical, introduces sub-topics as needed to tell a story
• rationale for conducting the study is extremely clear
• it is obvious that the new study is needed
• motivation for the study is supported by existing literature
• sufficient details are provided that researchers can replicate the study, each aspect of methodology requires its own degree of detail, which will vary across studies, discriminate which aspects of methodology are key to achieving your goal.
