Central Park five

Throughout our class, we have discussed different methods of academic writing. For our final paper assignment, I want you to take this a step further and relate these lessons back to your chosen area of study. I would like you to select a topic of significance to your chosen major. For example, if you are a criminal justice major, you may choose to pick a particularly significant court case or historical event tied to criminal justice. Psychology majors may want to select a significant study or even a popular theory. English majors can select a major work of literary criticism or a major canonical text. This final assignment is very open-ended, so make sure to select your topic carefully. Consider some of the most significant aspects of your major and pick something you will be able to elaborate on. If you are currently undeclared, consider a field of study that interests you. You can even use this assignment as an opportunity to consider what major you may want to declare. That being said, if you are undeclared, this does not give you free reign to pick any topic, I still expect a scholarly and academic work.Once you have selected your topic, in a three page paper, explain the significance of your chosen topic, how does it effect your major, what effects has it had on your field of study. Essentially, I want you to write an overview of the academic significance of your topic. You can choose to analyze your topic specifically and discuss its impact or you can take up an argumentative position to either agree or disagree with your topic. To support your argument, I want you to include at least three outside sources, two of which must be academic sources (from an online academic database, scholarly text or journal). Like we discussed in class, these can be found through resources like google scholar or the Loughheed Library’s online databases.

Your paper should be properly formatted with a header as well as page numbers. Include proper in-text citations based on your field of study. Additionally, you must include a works cited page in addition to the four pages of writing.
